How to eat well in Laglio
The practical field is the shore either side. Moltrasio and Cernobbio to the south, and the villages north towards Argegno, put a proper range of kitchens within a short drive or a shorter run by water, and Como itself puts a city's worth within reach for an evening. Most owners here eat out by boat more than they eat out on foot, which is a genuinely different rhythm from village life further north.
The seasonal point matters more here than in a larger village. Opening in the colder months is thin and unpredictable, and published hours are frequently wrong. Why is Laglio so well known for such a small village?
Since the 2000s it has been widely reported internationally as the address of several high-profile owners of waterfront villas, which has given a very small shore an outsized public profile.
We do not comment on individuals or on any particular property, and much of what circulates about the village is inaccurate. The effect that matters to a buyer is structural rather than social: attention has been concentrated on a shore holding a small number of houses, owners tend to hold them for a long time, and discretion is treated as a condition of any sale here rather than as a courtesy.
Can you keep a boat at Laglio?
Yes, and it is close to the point of the village. There is a small harbour, the water is deep near the shore, and many houses have a historic landing stage or darsena.
Those shoreline structures date from the village's boatbuilding past and cannot be created now, so a house that has one holds something genuinely finite. If a mooring matters to you, make it a search criterion at the outset and have the rights and consents checked properly during the survey rather than assuming they transfer cleanly.
What is the shore road like to live with?
The Strada Regina is narrow, cut into the rock, and slow. It is a short distance to Como and an unpredictable one, particularly in high season.
It also governs works on any house here: vehicle size is limited, and deliveries to waterfront sites often have to come by water instead. Owners who use a boat regularly find the road recedes as a problem; owners who rely on it entirely tend to feel it every day of the summer.
